forest therapy & nature connection
6 week course

An evidence-backed, soul-nourishing journey for women navigating anxiety, grief, loneliness or emotional fatigue.

Could this be your invitation back to yourself?

This September, I’m opening up a 6-week Forest Therapy & Nature Connection course in South Cumbria for a small group of women ready to slow down, reconnect, and gently heal supported by nature and held in community.

Whether you’re feeling anxious, creatively blocked, emotionally depleted, or simply longing to feel more like yourself again… this space is for you.

This isn’t a course in doing.
It’s a return to being.
Held by the forest. Guided with care.

When: Saturday 13th September - Saturday 18th September
Time: 10.30am - 2/3pm
Where: National Trust Eaves Wood, Lancashire
Limited Spaces: 12 women only

What Is Forest Therapy & Nature Connection?

Also known as Shinrin Yoku or Forest Bathing, Forest Therapy & Nature Connection is a gentle, sensory practice of connecting with the natural world. It supports the body, mind, and emotions by inviting you into a state of calm, presence, and deep belonging.

Used worldwide in mental health and recovery programmes, Forest Therapy & Nature Connection is proven to:

  • Reduce anxiety and emotional tension

  • Improve sleep, mood and resilience

  • Reignite creativity and clarity

  • Support nervous system regulation

  • Increase feelings of connection, calm and wellbeing

This is where nature becomes your therapist.
No pressure. No performance. Just space to exhale and be.

A 6-Week Journey of Healing

Each weekly session is 3–4 hours long and gently structured to support emotional restoration and reconnection:

  • Mindful invitations to awaken your senses and shift out of the mind

  • Circle work for optional sharing, connection, and emotional safety

  • Solo time for reflection, rest, or gentle wandering

  • Slow walking through peaceful woodland (gentle slopes)

  • Creative integration such as eco-art, or nature-based reflection

  • Nature-based homework to help integrate sensory awareness into daily life

We bring packed lunches to share around a fire.
You’ll also have the option of a private group to connect between sessions.

Forest Therapy isn’t just intuitive it’s backed by science

Experts like Dr Rangan Chatterjee
highlight the healing power of trees and phytoncides, essential oils emitted by trees as a natural defence and communication system.

“One study found that time spent among trees leads to lower cortisol levels, reduced pulse rate, and lower blood pressure. Another found that phytoncides can reduce stress, improve sleep, increase mood, decrease anxiety, and enhance heart-rate variability.”

Alongside these natural benefits, I will invite you to complete wellbeing assessments so you will be able to notice your changes before and after:

  • WEMWBS – Warwick Edinburgh Mental Wellbeing Scale

  • CNS – Connectedness to Nature Scale

Over six weeks, you may begin to feel:

✔ Calmer and more emotionally balanced
✔ Less anxious or overwhelmed
✔ More connected to your body, heart, and inner self
✔ Increased presence, focus, and self-awareness
✔ A renewed sense of belonging and peace
✔ Awakened creativity and self agency

Is This for You?

This course is for women who:

✔ Are navigating mild/moderate anxiety, grief, low mood or burnout

✔ Crave space to breathe, reflect, and feel more like themselves again

✔ Are open to slowing down and being guided gently

✔ Long to reconnect with their body, emotions, and the natural world

✔ Want meaningful support without pressure or performance

You don’t need any experience in mindfulness, therapy, or forest bathing.
Just a willingness to arrive and let the forest meet you where you are.
You will need to be able to walk for around 15 minutes to get to the site where we will be gathering.

Words from the Forest

This will be the fourth Forest Therapy course I’ve led over the past four years.
Previous programmes were delivered in partnership with The Lighthouse Charity and CancerCare, supporting women navigating trauma recovery, emotional fatigue, anxiety, grief.

The results speak for themselves.
For those who committed to the full six weeks, the transformation was deeply felt, both immediately and in the weeks that followed.

Here’s what participants shared:

“I was looking for a different way of helping me manage my anxiety and the course did just that, I connected to by body through my senses and discovered that when I slow down, and really connect with my environment, I can calm my nervous system and be truly present.”
— Participant, Lighthouse Charity Programme, Spring Group

“It calms me and helps me surrender to the process of the life I am living. I was hoping for 'quick fixes' so I'd feel 'better' but what I now know is that if I stop resisting the process, I can actually tune into what each emotion is showing me so I can learn, rather than get dragged down.”
— Participant, Lighthouse Charity Programme, Spring Group

Thank you so much for sharing your expertise and enabling me to glimpse and experience the healing power of nature. I do know that as the sessions went on I passed through feelings of intense grief and then I started to feel a sense of peace.
I now know that I treasure the feeling of fresh air on my skin and only need to open a window to ground myself and feel better. I still get hit by waves of grief, but I know that I can ride through them.
You have given me the gift of showing me how I can be part of nature, a gift that I will cherish and already I ‘see’ things differently.

— Participant, Lighthouse Charity, Autumn Group

“Delyth guided us gently and compassionately through the Woodland Therapy. The invitations that she gave us had a deep, long lasting effect, working through the 6 weeks helped us set up our own, unique forest bathing routine. This is something that I will continue throughout my life, the woods have become my medicine cabinet, this I will cherish and share with others”
— Participant, Lighthouse Charity, Autumn Group

These reflections are just a glimpse into what becomes possible when you give yourself time in nature, with care, community, and consistency.

You don’t have to talk your way through it.
You just have to be willing to show up.
